Third best day of my LIFE!!!

4/25/2014

First being the day my son was born, and the second being the day I was lucky enough to marry my best friend.

This is surreal!! 2013 was a year I completely dedicated to working towards this and making it happen (on most nights and weekends anyway lol). I can only hope that I have done enough and worked hard enough to make my elders and ancestors proud.

We are officially on our way home! I cannot wait to share this book and our family history (or at least a small peice of it) with anyone and everyone willing to listen.

Ready to pick up the books!!

Well today we got the GM serviced and picked up our sea can (not to be confused with C can as I was corrected today lol). We are officially ready to pick up our precious cargo!!

So we are having a half early night (first one all week) and getting ready for a long day tomorrow. We will rise at a half decent hour and head out to Altona, which is about 1 1/2 hours from Winnipeg. We are due to be there around mid afternoon, and if we are a bit early, my Friesens contact, Ian McKinnon has offered us a tour of the printing facility! I am quite excited to see where it all happens. I was also offered to be there as my book was being printed, and sign off on the pages as they were completed; unfortunately I just did not have the time to do this.

After the books are loaded, we will be hitting the road and trying to get as far as possible! I sure miss home (snow and all!), my son and husband, and I just can't wait to get it home and start selling these peices of history!!!!

Stay tuned, for the next blog, I will have books in hand!!!!

Arrived in Manitoba

We have arrived in Winnipeg!! A dreadfully boring drive, we seen 2 deer, 3 frogs and countless geese, loons, ducks, ravens and crows. Definitely can't wait to be west bound, hopefully to leave the wind behind us!

Off to get some regular maintenance done on the truck, and hopefully pick up the C can tomorrow.   We decided to pick up a C can to ensure the books will arrive nice and dry.

We plan to leave Winnipeg fairly early Friday morning to travel to Altona, where the book is being printed and bound. From there, we will turn around and back across the prairies.

And we weren't able to get any good pictures today, as the rain refused to let up. So, I thought I would share one of the videos I was sent from home, showing me what I was missing. So looking forward to hugging and holding my handsome little guy. The old saying is true, "absence makes the heart grow fonder."

My first time in Saskatchewan

32 hours and just over 1600 kilometers after leaving Fort Nelson, we have arrived in Saskatoon.  Found a beautiful hotel to spend the night in!  Looking forward to some relaxation and getting some chores done (Thank you cards, spreadsheets, blogs lol).
Good weather so far, although I can't wait to get back to the mountains!  The wind is terrible!!  Only about 10 hours of travelling time, and 2 1/2 days waiting time until we pick up "The McDonalds!"
Enjoying the adventure so far, for my first time this far into the prairies.  I honestly don't plan on coming back this way, so I might as well enjoy it now!  Missing my son like crazy, but the wonderful people taking care of him are sending me videos throughout the day of his adventures, so I don't feel like I'm missing too terribly much.  Missing my husband as well, in our ten years together (this July, how time flies!) this will be the longest we have been apart.
Loving the truck stops, everything we need all in one.  Sure glad Brad's driving, I'm pretty sure I would be screwed in the dually, never mind with the goose neck on.  Pretty stoked to see the load once it's secure!  Have our own personal tour guide for tomorrow, looking forward to checking out Cabela's here in Saskatoon before we leave to Winnipeg!  That will be another first for me!

We are officially off to Winnipeg!! Already miss my family, but I know my son is in great hands. Can't believe the time is finally here, seems like I have been waiting for this for years!! Should be in Winnipeg Thursday, will pick the books up (all 3000 of them!!) Friday afternoon, and turn and burn back home. A little over 2400 kms each way.

Getting excited to share The McDonalds story with the world! Hoping to see a great turnout at the book launch, April 30 at the Fort Nelson Curling Lounge!!
